Norton Healthcare’s Engage Series continued with Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron (R) and Norton Healthcare’s Kim Tharp-Barrie on November 10, 2021. Attorney General Cameron and Kim Tharp-Barrie discussed Human Trafficking and how law enforcement partners with healthcare providers to tackle this issue, as well as what steps Norton employees can take to identify victims, take precautionary measures, and raise awareness around this issue. Engage on Inclusive Healthcare for the LGBTQ Community

We were pleased to welcome Dr. Suzanne E. Kingery M.D., Cynthia Benedict, and Chris Hartman to Norton Healthcare’s Engage series on Thursday, October 7th, 2021. Dr. Suzanne E. Kingery is a pediatric endocrinologist at Norton Children’s Endocrinology and the director of PAGE (Pediatric and Adolescent Gender Education). Dr. Kingery was accompanied by Cynthia Benedict Director, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging for Norton Healthcare and the Executive Director of Kentucky’s Fairness Campaign, Chris Hartman.  This event focused on LGBTQ healthcare, including using proper terminology for inclusive conversations and how Norton Healthcare employees can create an environment that is accepting and does not alienate patients and visitors. We were excited to welcome Louisville Metro Council President David James (D) to Norton Healthcare’s Engage series on October 6, 2021. We received an update from Metro Council President James on recent and upcoming legislation and issues relevant to Metro Council District 6 and Louisville as a whole. Norton Healthcare’s Engage Series continued on July 30th with a back-to-school discussion featuring Norton Children’s physicians Kent Walker, D.O., Jameel Clark, M.D., Erin Frazier, M.D., and Kristina Bryant, M.D. They spoke and answered questions about vaccinations, COVID-19 vaccines for 12+, sleep schedules, healthy eating, return to sports, injury prevention, and much more. Engaged with U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth (D-KY-3)

On June 10, Norton Healthcare Engage kicked off our first event in our Engage speaker series with a virtual event featuring U.S. Representative John Yarmuth (D-KY-3). During the event, we engaged with Congressman Yarmuth on President Biden’s newly released 2022 budget, ongoing economic relief and its impact for Louisville, and what we can expect to see on Capitol Hill in the coming months.
